Postby wheene » Sun May 20, 2012 5:34 pm

From now on Ill post all my showcase stuff here so I dont flood the forum with my little demos :D

Here is the latest piece, the "Boulder Storm"

http://www.2shared.com/file/kfUMwfCv/storm2.html

So far it is very simple, no fancy upgrading or better weapons, waves of various enemies and difficulties, but all of that is comming, so stay tuned for the next release :)

W,A,S,D move SPACE shoot and manualy restart if you get hit by the stone. Have fun

Hi Wheene.
Again, pretty good prototype, you seem to have a good understanding of how to make the gameplay work.
I do have some suggestions. Firstly, if you're going to aim with the mouse, you need to be able to shoot with it as well. :)
Second, I think the difficulty is a bit high. Especially if there's a lot of meteors - then I'm pretty much forced to stay in the middle of the screen (that is, there isn't any advantage or benefit of going to the corners of the screen).
That's all I can think of for now. :)

Made this in one hour today. Biology sucked hard...

W,S left pad, up arrow, down arrow right pad, r to restart ball (not score)

The space shooter is coming along nicely, preview should be done soon.

Here hombres, rockets numero tres.

http://www.filefactory.com/file/4lhfphw ... storm3.zip

It still doesnt have all the features I promised, not by far, but there are already quite a few cool things.

WSAD for movement, left mouse for normal shots (infinite ammo, left gauge shows recharge), right mouse rocket (gauge on the right shows rockets left).

Post your high scores here, I lived for like 30 seconds, its really a hard game :D

Hey, I got 20.07 with the touchpad instead of a mouse.
Love the new storm game, nice attention to detail with the screen border and all. :)
Kinda looks like an arcade machine overlay.

Regarding the pong prototype:
I think there might be a collision resolution bug when you hit the puck with the very corner of the paddle.
Also, at one point the game reset with the puck bouncing between the top and bottom nearly vertically.
These are just minor gripes though, nice work as usual. :)

Yo guys, been quite a while eh?
To quickly sum up what kept me away so long, I felt I was going nowhere because I lacked the very basics of programming, so I went back to kindergarden and learned some Pascal.
And with my newly gained knowledge here comes my new Agen game.... The Raining Cards !

https://www.dropbox.com/s/4luffg9hukpjg4i/rain.rar

Its a very simple card game, all the rules are explained when you start it. Only thing thats left to tweak about it is changing its AS (artificial stupidity) to AI (almost inteligent).
But I just couldnt wait to show off so here is.

Also Id love to hear your advice on what I should try to make now, whether to mess around with box2d, or maybe some strategy...
Generally any idea for a game you believe would be cool and are willing to part with.

Hey welcome back man,
Awesome work! This is probably the best completed AGen game that I've played apart from the ones we sell commercially. It took me a few minutes but I got the hang of it. Very fun to play once you understand the rules. Great job again, the only criticism I have is with your code - I think you may want to consider splitting it into several files. It's kind of hard to follow the code when everything is contained in one long script file. Other than that, I love it! Looking forward to whatever you come up with.
I've tried writing strategy games in Agen before but it was too hard and didn't work out. With Box2D on the other hand it's fairly easy to get something running right away (in fact I have a small editor that you might be interested in checking out). Take care.

PS. I've played the game again today for almost an hour and it's great! It has that addicting Solitaire quality. It would be nice to some sort of scoring system or something that gives a feeling of progression. Good job man!

Hey thanks for the praise :) Ill try to add the highscores system and improve the ai.
I think Ill try to make something tower defence - esque. Although its reinventing the wheel, Id say people still like to play it and it should be pretty challenging too.
As for the box2d editor, you know how its with me and reading other peoples code. Sure I could try, but Im affraid I wouldnt be able to make heads or tails off it.

Here you go, there are four highscore stats for you to play with. The results tabs come out if you win the game, nothing happens if you lose.
Results are saved in .txt in the rain folder, simply replace the four numbers there by 1000,0,0 and 0 there to reset the score.
I didnt include games won/lost as I thought thats not interesting at all, rather there are kind of challenges.

more inteligent AI comming up next

Nice job again. Love the sliding effect when you win a game. You have a sense of how to make your games look polished so kudos for that. :) Another nice touch would be if the cards which are possible to play were highlighted - since I noticed that sometimes I miss out moves.
